This April Turn2us will launch its second annual Benefits Awareness Month in which we encourage everyone in financial need to check their entitlement to welfare benefits and ensure they are claiming the support available to them.
There are 13.5 million people living below the poverty line in the UK, including 3.9 million children yet the latest figures show that around £19.18 billion of welfare benefits go unclaimed each year. During the course of the month, Turn2us will be undertaking a media campaign aimed at breaking down the barriers that stop people making a claim and reduce the perceived stigma around receiving benefits.
Turn2us wishes to work with other charities, local councils and consumer organisations to make sure the public is aware of the financial help available to them. We can provide template press releases and articles, as well as posters, leaflets and other promotional material. We can also train staff on the Turn2us Benefits Calculator so that you can help your service-users access financial help.
If your organisation would be interested in supporting this important initiative, please contact Rebecca Spencer, Head of Press and Campaigns, rebecca.spencer@elizabethfinn.org.uk
So far we’ve had a great response and have already received confirmation from the following charities:
