The Government is to introduce a benefits cap in April 2013 which will limit the amount of benefit that people of working age can receive.

Our new information sheet tells you who will be affected, who is exempt, how it is to be applied and what support will be available.

It is predicted that:

• 54% of the households that will be affected by this cap will be in Greater London boroughs
• 7% in Scotland and Wales
• 39% spread across the other English regions.

The Department for Work and Pensions will be writing to people who could be affected from April 2012. This is likely to lead to many households having questions about their benefits and how this will affect them.
