horrible!! This agency is not user-friendly for the consumer and it
is VERY difficult for the disabled person to get assistance without
PAYING for an attorney. It appears that the ONLY way to get
disability is to HIRE an attorney. The prceoss is VERY long and
painful for the disabled person and family! Then there is the
housing factor that again is horrible. The disabled has to JUMP
through this agency's hoops also! My son and I have been
discriminated against by the local Section 8 Agency! The housing
opportunities here are terrible and NOT safe!! Lots of drugs and
crime in these houses. I need to have my son in a safe environment
and I need to feel safe going to and from his home. The
requirements are that he HAS to be locked into staying where he
finds an apartment for a YEAR! This is unfair if the area is
unsafe!! The allotment is too low to find suitable apartments that
are safe. Section 8 housing should be given to the apartment
complex wherever the disabled finds safe living arrangements, and
NOT to just section 8 listed establishments. This system needs to
change!!

Turn2us Reply - Turn2us

Reply to a comment on the Turn2us news archive about benefit changes

We are sorry that you are worried about the effects that the
benefits changes may have on the lives of you and your son.
You really need advice from a benefits adviser about your
situation. You can use our Find an Adviser
tool to find a local one.

We would also suggest that you make contact with the following
organisations which should be able to provide you with more
information and support, both about money issues and more
generally:

people with cancer and their families. They have many
resources to help support you, including
