Dana's story
As the mother of a 3-year old girl and a baby boy, Dana
certainly has her hands full. The family live outside London and
have recently benefited from using the Turn2us helpline.
The local council recommended a call to the Turn2us helpline after Dana had some
questions about the state benefits she receives. The Turn2us
advisor was able to carry out a full benefits
check over the phone and also identified that Dana could claim
for Child Tax Credit, which she didn’t
know about before.
“It was really good to be able to speak to someone who can give
good advice on benefits,” she says, explaining that she had
previously approached friends for assistance, who did not have
nearly as much experience of claiming benefits as the Turn2us
advisers. Additionally Turn2us put her in contact with a benefits
adviser in her area, who was able to provide advice about filling
out the application form and check that all the necessary
information had been included.
The application has now been approved and the family have been
receiving the Child Tax Credit they are entitled to for several
months.
“Thank you so much Turn2us,” she says, explaining how reassured
she was to have all her questions answered and how grateful for the
additional financial support. “I really didn’t know how to go about
applying for benefits before and it was so useful to speak to
someone who knows. I’m very grateful.”
