The French Huguenot Church of London Charitable Trust

Young people, usually in secondary or higher education, but applications for younger children can be considered. For all categories, where there are two or more claimants of equal merit, the trustees have the following order of priority:

Young people, usually in secondary or higher education, but applications for younger children can be considered. For all categories, where there are two or more claimants of equal merit, the trustees have the following order of priority:


(a) people who, or whose parents are, members of the Church
(b) people of French Protestant descent
(c) other people as trustees think fit.

Grants can be given for the education of:
(i) children of members of the church
(ii) French Protestant children attending French schools in London
(iii) those under 25 of proven French Protestant descent
(iv) girls at schools of the Girls’ Public Day School Trust and the Church Schools Company Ltd
(v) boys at selected independent day schools
(vi) choristers at schools of the Choir Schools Association
(vii) people under 25 for individuals

 

Exclusions

 

Type of grants

(i) Bursaries at the schools mentioned above; these do not usually exceed the value of one term's fees. (ii) Project grants [as in (vii) above]; these do not usually exceed £250 and may be less.

Applications

Applications for categories (i) and (ii) above should be made to the Secretary of the Consistory, 8–9 Soho Square, London W1V 5DD. Correspondence regarding categories (iii) and (vii) should be sent to the correspondent. Applications for categories (iv), (v) and (vi) should be sent to the head of the school concerned, mentioning the applicant’s connection (if any) with the French Protestant Church.

Other information

The trust also awards an annual scholarship for Huguenot Research at the Institution of Historical Research at the University of London, and has endowed an annual scholarship to support students under 25 wishing to undertake projects relevant to modern Europe (Peter Kirk Memorial Fund).

The trust also gives to organisations.
