Eligibility

People in need, hardship or distress who live in the ancient parish of Enfield.

Exclusions

No grants to people who are homeless or for items which the local or central government should provide.

Type of grants

One-off grants can include help with unexpected expenses, help with clothing, replacing/providing household goods, beds, furniture and carpets, the special needs of people who are disabled or chronically ill, and exceptionally help with bills and debts and so on. Around 50 regular quarterly grants are also made to people on a low income in financial need.

Applications

On a form available on request from the correspondent. Applications can be made either directly by the individual or through social services, probation service, hospitals, clinics or clergy. Applicants who write directly are visited and assessed. Grants are distributed either directly to individuals or through a welfare agency or suitable third party. Applications are considered on a monthly basis.

The trust cannot help with costs that are the responsibility of the local authority or central government. No support is given for second degrees or masters courses.

Type of grants

For students and other residents who are undertaking education or training, help is given with living costs, equipment, stationery, childminding and other general expenses during their course of study.

On a form available on request from the correspondent. Applicants are then interviewed by a committee.
