Type of grants

One-off and recurrent grants ranging from £100 to £1,000 for help with mobility needs, household items, house repairs, convalescence, bankruptcy fees, 'top up' fees for nursing homes and emergency relief for people affected by flooding. Biannual financial assistance grants are also available to help with everyday living costs.

Applications

On a form available from the correspondent or from the website. Assistance is 'means tested' so applicants should be prepared to make a full declaration of their finances, including state benefits and funding from other charitable sources. Application forms can be submitted either directly by the individual or through a social worker, citizen's advice bureau or other third party.

Other information

The trust provides sheltered homes for older people at Basildon and Bletchley plus a nursing home at Bletchley. It also advises pensioners on their statutory entitlements.
