People in need of any age who work or have worked in agriculture in England or Wales as farmers or farm workers, and their dependants.  If retired, applicants must normally have worked full-time in farming for at least ten years.  Exceptions may be made where the applicant has had to give up work early due to permanent ill-health or disability.

Contact the welfare department by telephoning the helpline, or by letter, e.mail or fax.  Applications are accepted either from the individual or by a third party.  You will have to provide details of your work history, financial situation and at least one referee.

People who work or have worked in agriculture, crofting, forestry, horticulture, fish farming or rural estate work in Scotland, and their dependants, can apply to RSABI for help if they have limited income and savings.

Applications should be made on a form which is available from RSABI. Completed applications can be submitted by the individual or by a recognised third party such as a social worker or citizens advice bureau and should include as much detail as possible about the present circumstances of the applicant and the occupational qualifications.
