Type of grants

Grants for people who are moving from junior to secondary schools and to students going on to higher education. Grants are usually £30 per student.

Applications

Application forms are issued through the local junior schools; other students should apply direct to the correspondent. Juniors should apply in May, seniors in September. Trustees meet twice yearly, but can act rapidly in an emergency.

Grants are not normally for course fees or general maintenance.

Type of grants

Grants in the range of £100 and £500 for those at school, college or university, people starting work and people with special educational needs. Grants are more suited towards meeting expenses such as specific books, items of equipment or events.

Applications

In writing to the correspondent. Applications should include: details of the purpose for which the grants is requested; a cv setting out age, schools and colleges attended and educational attainments to date; proof of financial need; a written reference in support of the application confirming current educational status and financial need; and an sae. Applications are considered in March, June, September and December.

The Cecil Norman Wellesley Blair Charitable Trust

People in need who live in the civil parish of Trowbridge. To receive funding vouchers persons must be resident in Trowbridge and receiving income support, job seekers allowance or pension credit.

One-off grants only of around £12, mainly in the form of vouchers for food, fuel and clothing.

Applications

The trust advertises the date of distribution each year in the local press - usually the first Friday in December. It issues vouchers via two distribution points and beneficiaries must go to those points and present proof that they are in receipt of statutory benefits.

Other information

In very exceptional circumstances, when surplus money is available, the trust gives grants to local organisations.
