People aged 11 to 25 who live in Shrewsbury and its immediate environs, who are in need.

Exclusions

No grants are made towards first degree courses.

Type of grants

Help is available to schoolchildren for equipment/instruments and educational outings in the UK and further and higher education students for equipment/instruments, fees, books, living expenses, educational outings in the UK, gap year activities and study or travel abroad. Preference is given to: schoolchildren with serious family difficulties so that the child has to be educated away from home; people with special educational needs to help towards specialist equipment; and for specialist courses of education. Grants are usually one-off and range from £100 to £150.

Applications

On a form available from the correspondent. Applications are considered in January and July and should be submitted directly by the individual before 1 January and 1 July respectively. All applications must be supported by a letter from the applicant's educational establishment, or, if relevant, a medical practitioner or educational psychologist.
