Exclusions
No grants are given towards rent, mortgage arrears, luxury items or repayments of loans, debts or credit cards.
Type of grants
One-off grants of up to £500 a year are available from the trust, which may share the cost of major items with other agencies. Recent grants have been given towards Passover food, travel expenses for respite care, washing machines, cookers, moving costs and so on.
Applications
On a form available from the correspondent. All referrals must be through a professional person such as a social worker, health visitor and so on. A referral must accompany every application and be on headed paper including client's name, date of birth, detailed breakdown of weekly income, details and nature of request, name, position and signature of referrer and details of whom the cheque should be made payable to. First applications require symptomatic proof of HIV diagnosis from the applicant's doctor.
Other information
The trust was established to educate Jewish people about HIV and also provide support for those affected by it. The trust also carries out research into sex and relationships education in schools and manages sexual health information workshops in Jewish schools, clubs and in Jewish student unions in the UK.
