The Simon Fletcher Charitable Trust

People studying music, usually singers under 30, studying at a recognised music academy. Grants are made in the UK and Australia.

Eligibility

People studying music, usually singers under 30, studying at a recognised music academy. Grants are made in the UK and Australia.

Type of grants

One-off grants of up to £1,000. Grants are made to schoolchildren for books and equipment/instruments and to college students, undergraduates, vocational students, mature students and overseas students for fees, study/travel abroad and maintenance/living expenses.

The trust also administers the Simon Fletcher Award, an annual award given to one individual, usually of £1,000. This is awarded after a process of application, audition and interview, usually in June.

Applications

By emailing the correspondent in the first instance, with details of education, instrument being studied and reasons for requesting financial assistance.

Other information

Grants are also made to schools for the purchase of instruments, music and so on.

The Rosslyn Park Injury Trust Fund

Young people who are sick or disabled through a sports injury (amateur sports).

Eligibility

Young people who have a disability or are in poor health as a result of an injury suffered while playing sports (amateur sports). Help may also be available to their dependants.

Type of grants

One-off grants for computers, special care, medical equipment, computers and disability aids.

People aged 18 to 25 who live in the ancient parish of Rothbury, Thropton and Hepple. Applicants must be pursuing a full-time further education course at a technical college, university or similar establishment approved by the trustees.

Eligibility

People aged 18 to 25 who live in the parishes of Cartington, Hepple, Hesleyhurst, Rothbury, Snitter, Thropton and Tosson and the parts of the parishes of Brinkburn, Hollinghill and Netherton that lie within the ancient parish of Rothbury. Applicants must be pursuing a full-time further education course at a technical college, university or similar establishment approved by the trustees.

Cash grants, usually of about £100.

Preference is given to people who are: homeless; unemployed; experiencing problems related to drug or solvent abuse; being ill-treated; being neglected, in the areas of physical, moral and educational well-being; or 'people who have committed criminal acts, or are in danger of doing so'.
