The Turner Exhibition Fund

Girls and women who are members of the Church of England, have attended a school wholly or partly maintained out of public funds for at least two years and are now living in the diocese of London or that part of the diocese of Southwark which lies

Eligibility

Girls and women who are members of the Church of England, have attended a school wholly or partly maintained out of public funds for at least two years and are now living in the diocese of London or that part of the diocese of Southwark which lies within the London boroughs of Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham, Southwark and Wandsworth.

Type of grants

Small cash grants, from £250 to £1,000, to assist candidates in meeting the expenses of, and incidental to, their education or training at any stage after leaving primary school, such as fees, and the purchase of books and equipment. Grants are also made for travel costs to and from college. The fund prefers to award grants to those undertaking a first course of education or training, rather than postgraduate students.

Applications

In writing to the correspondent, including the nature of the course of education and training which the applicant intends to pursue and availability of other funding. Applications are usually considered in June and October and application forms are issued on request approximately two months before each meeting.

Type of grants

One-off grants mainly for schoolchildren who, because of the poverty of their families, need help with clothes, books, equipment or necessary educational visits, and, secondly, for eligible children with aptitudes or disabilities which need special provision. Grants are normally limited to a maximum of £200 for any applicant.
