Type of grants

One-off grants up to £250 are given to schoolchildren and further and higher education students for uniforms/other school clothing, books and equipment/instruments. Grants given include those in the areas of music and other arts and individuals preparing to enter a profession or trade after leaving school or higher education.

Eligibility

People in need who live in the former borough of Middleton. In exceptional circumstances people who are only temporarily resident in the area may be considered.

Exclusions

No grants for rates, taxes or other public funds. No repeat grants.

Type of grants

One-off grants (typically £200) for emergencies, for example, travel expenses to visit people in hospital or similar institutions, fuel bills, television licence fees, arrears, holidays for disadvantaged families and general household necessities.

Made by individual application or through social workers, health visitors, victim support schemes and Citizens Advice. All applications must include supporting information from, for example, a social worker, health visitor or other professional.
