Support is also given to people who are disabled (including helping to buy wheelchairs and so on).

The trust prefers to contribute towards the total cost of items and services rather than cash grants i.e. the purchase of a buggy for a disabled person, TV licence costs, food, and washing machine purchase and fitting. One-off cash donations up to a maximum of £100.

The Institute of Chartered Foresters Educational & Scientific Trust

Students of forestry and related disciplines.

Type of grants

Grants are available for students and others at an early stage in their career in forestry. The trust offers three types of grant:

  • EST travel bursary: one award of £500 made to one applicant for travel to benefit professional development;
  • EST professional development awards: a discretionary award of any amount made to one applicant;
  • EST Events awards: several awards of £100 made for attending the ICF National Conference or Study Tour.

Applications for the Professional Development Awards are considered four times a year and should be received at the latest by March 31st, June 30th, September 30th or December 31st for consideration by Trustees. Applications for the Annual Travel Bursary should be received by the 31st March. Events bursary awards are awarded annually.
