Eligibility

All schoolchildren living in the parish of Linkinhorne who are in secondary education and/or training.

Type of grants

Grants are made to every eligible child; there is an option to return the money if it is not needed. Grants are for uniforms, other school clothing and educational outings in the UK.

Applications

In writing to the correspondent, directly by the individual or his or her parent/guardian; the trust is also sent a list from the primary school of those children who are moving to secondary school. Applications are considered in April and October.

The Pocklington Apprenticeship Trust (Acton, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham branch)

Young people aged 25 or under who have lived in Acton, Ealing or Hammersmith and Fulham for at least five years. Special consideration is given to people who have a disability or special educational needs.

Type of grants

Grants in the range of £100 and £300 are given towards tools, equipment, training course fees, textbooks, stationary, computer accessories, special clothing etc.

Applications

On a form available from the correspondent, for consideration in May/June. Applicants should provide evidence of financial hardship; this could be being in receipt of state benefits or because of personal circumstances. Applicants can apply on their own behalf or through a sponsor who might be a teacher, tutor, youth leader or social worker.

Other information

Although it is primarily for the benefit of young people, the fund has stated that it will also be worth older people applying who, because of a disabling condition later in life, have had to consider an alternative job to that which they have been used to.

This small private foundation offers a limited number of small grants to people in difficult circumstances to assist with education, music or athletics.

Must show promise in their area of specialism and have made efforts to secure funding elsewhere.

There are two funding rounds per year, in January and July.
