Eligibility

People in need who live in East Anglia and are experiencing or have experienced a legal restriction on their liberty, and their families. Namely offenders, ex-offenders or people who are at risk of offending.

Exclusions

Grants are not given towards payment of debts, fines, legal costs or hire purchases.

Type of grants

One-off grants towards rehabilitation and education. Grants usually range from £10 to £70. Sums of money are not usually paid direct, but itemised bills will be met directly. If items can be reclaimed from either housing benefit or returnable deposit, this must be considered.

Applicants will usually already be supported by, or are known to, ACT and should have exhausted all possible sources of statutory funds.

The areas that will be supported are:

  • education and/or training
  • basic equipment/tools
  • furniture
  • moving into new accommodation
  • clothing to enable people to seek employment/return to work
  • others on merit.
Applications

In writing to the correspondent. All applications must be supported by a probation officer or other professional person and are considered quarterly.

The trust has a visitor who is a member of South Leith Parish Church. He visits the pensioners throughout the year and reports to the trustees on their state of health and needs.
