In writing to the correspondent, including details of income and expenditure and a record of fire service employment. Applicants are usually visited at home by a representative of the fund to assess their needs.

Allowances of £52 per month per child is given to children in full-time education, up to the end of their A-levels.

Eligibility

Nurses, midwives and community public health nurses who are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and healthcare assistants in the UK.

Type of grants

One-off and recurrent grants of £300 to £3,000 for further or higher education and training to enhance nursing practice.

On a form available on the website to be submitted with a current CV via email. All applicants are interviewed either by telephone or in person. Applications are considered in March, July and November and applications should be submitted 6 weeks before the meeting.

The Nottingham Roosevelt Memorial Travelling Scholarship

People between the ages of 21 and 30 who are engaged in industry, commerce or 'the professions' and live or work in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

People between the ages of 20 and 30 who are engaged in industry, commerce or 'the professions' and live or work in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Exclusions

Grants are not given to students.

Type of grants

Grants to help with the cost of visiting the USA for between three and six months to investigate a topic of the applicant's and/or employer's choice. The value of each scholarship can be up to about £3,000, plus return flight tickets to New York. 'Scholars are expected to travel widely throughout the USA and learn about the American way of life - an ambassadorial role.'
