Living Wage
The Living Wage is an hourly rate, set
independently, every year (by the GLA in London). It is calculated
according to cost of living and gives the minimum pay rate required
for a worker to provide their family with the essentials of
life.
The Living Wage Campaign, launched by the charity Citizens
UK in 2001, calls for every worker in the country to earn the
living wage - which will lift many families out of working
poverty.
