How we are helping those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire

  • 29/08/2017

A day after the horrific fire at Grenfell Tower in June, we decided to help those affected by the fire by giving grants to households in the tower, £1,000 for a single person household and £1,500 for household of more than one person. These grants were paid directly into people’s bank accounts by us, the first being paid within days of the fire.

As the scale and impact of the fire became clear, our support was extended to those displaced from homes close to Grenfell Tower.

We worked closely with three of the local emergency centres to identify those who needed support and have now given £274,700 to 201 households affected by the fire.

We are now looking at how our resources can best be used to offer people support in the longer term.

Going forward, we will continue to provide support through the Turn2us Response Fund application and assessment process and we are training people at the three emergency centres so that we can continue to disseminate grants directly to people affected by the disaster.
