Profession: Nurse

Shannon recently qualified as a nurse but, as part of her degree, she was working as a part-time dental nurse on top of doing 40 hours a week unpaid on a hospital placement. As she was only earning £78.10 a week, she found herself in financial difficulty. She is now receiving a small Universal Credit payment but it doesn’t leave her enough to live on.

Given that Shannon will not be paid for the first month of her new job, and the long-term effects of Covid-19 on the country remain unknown, Turn2us gave her a one-off flexible grant to help her pay her living costs and the nursing registration fee.

"I was offered a job as a community staff nurse but, until I received the grant from Turn2us, I couldn’t afford the £120 nursing registration fee."
