Job Title:                 Volunteer Support Officer (full-time)
Hours:                     35 hours per week
Location:                Turn2us Head Office, Hammersmith, London


Turn2us is a charity that has been supporting people living in poverty in the UK and Ireland for over 100 years. Our volunteering programme has achieved the national Investing in Volunteers Quality Mark and we have recently embarked on a new three year Volunteering Strategy to grow and develop our volunteering programme.

An opportunity has arisen for a full-time Volunteer Support Officer to join our Face to Face Services Team at our Headquarters Office in Hammersmith. Reporting to the Volunteer Support Manager, you will be the first point of contact for our current and potential volunteers so you will need to strong administration and people skills. You will be responsible for organising volunteer visits, assisting with promotion of volunteer opportunities and recruitment together with supporting delivery of our ambitious plans to grow our volunteering programme across the charity through the development of a number of new roles and projects such as our befriending pilot and skills bank initiative.

The right candidate

We are looking for a very effective team member who is IT literate with excellent skills using MS Office suite, especially Word and Excel and databases. You will have very strong administration skills with good attention to detail and a high level of interpersonal skills, particularly in respect of providing excellent customer care. You will be experienced in managing your own workload, working towards key performance targets and being able to react to changing circumstances to ensure that competing deadlines are effectively prioritised and met.

An understanding of the charity sector, particularly with respect to the role of volunteers together with experience of using a database to produce mail merge documents and monitoring reports would also be useful.

This role will also involve updating our website area content although specialist training will be provided.  It would be ideal for someone who is particularly looking to gain experience in operational volunteer support and development in the voluntary sector.
