The appeals process is different in Northern Ireland as the Welfare Reform Bill has not been passed yet. It is unclear when changes will happen in Northern Ireland. The old appeal rules still apply which means that you have the right to go direct to the appeal stage. You can ask for a reconsideration, but it is optional.
