Get a Great North Run charity place with Turn2us

Newcastle, Gateshead and South Shields - Sunday 10 September 2017

Get involved

The Great North Run is the UK's biggest and best half marathon with over 57,000 runners taking part. Broadcast live on the BBC, it’s an event that simply can’t be beaten. It attracts world class athletes like Mo Farah and Haile Gebrselassie.

Start of Great North Run in Newcastle

Starting in Newcastle upon Tyne, the 13.1 mile route takes runners through the city centre towards the River Tyne and across the iconic Tyne Bridge. From there, runners travel through Gateshead. The route, lined all the way by thousands of supporters, then leads runners to South Shields, where, at the top of Prince Edward Road, the view of the sea signals just over a mile to go. Runners make their way down the final straight with the crowds getting louder and louder as they approach the finish gantry.
