About the Living Without campaign

What was the campaign about?

The #LivingWithout campaign highlighted the true scale and impact of appliance poverty in the UK.

Our report set out a series of solutions to help get a fridge, freezer, washing machine and cooker in every home. 

We identified that too many people were living in houses without essential household items and facing the resulting financial, physical and emotional penalties.

This issue is still prevalent today. We wanted to support those already struggling and contribute to a long term solution. 

The campaign was built around two key objectives:

• To provide immediate support for people living without essential household items by increasing access to grants and other forms of support through our existing services and partnerships
• To work with key stakeholders to create a number of medium and long term solutions that focus on providing practical help and deep-rooted societal change.
