In response to the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP's) decision to end unnecessary Personal Independence Payment (PIP) reviews for people with the most severe health conditions, Simon Hopkins, CEO at Turn2us, said:

“If you have a disability for life, with no chance of improvement, then you shouldn’t have to face a stressful and demeaning work capability assessment every few years.

“We welcome the news that the DWP has listened to the organisations and individuals raising this issue and is changing policy as a result.

“However, this solution won’t fix all the issues we have seen with Personal Independence Payment (PIP). So we are still calling for further practical improvements to PIP, such as better training of assessors and tapering payments for those who lose money after being reassessed."
