If you or your partner gets the the standard rate daily living component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you could get the extra benefits and other help listed on this page.

The Benefit Cap limits the amount of some benefits that families can get even if their entitlement would have been more. If you, your partner or your child who lives with you gets PIP, you are exempt from the cap.
Disability Premiums are extra amounts included in Housing Benefit if you meet the criteria.
Disability Premium
The disability premium is an extra £44.85 per week for single people and £64.00 per week for couples.
If you or your partner is getting PIP, you can get a disability premium included in your Housing Benefit.
If you are already getting full Housing Benefit, you will not get any more even if you qualify for a premium.
There is no disability premium paid within Universal Credit.
Severe Disability Premium
The Severe Disability Premium is an extra £86.05 per week for each person (you or your partner) who qualifies.

Severe Disability Premium is not paid with Universal Credit. People already getting Severe Disability Premiums in their benefits who then claim Universal Credit are entitled to transitional protection.
Non-dependant deductions can reduce your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit Housing Element entitlement. Check our non-dependant page to see who counts as a non-dependant. If you or your partner get the standard rate daily living component of PIP, your Housing Benefit or Universal Credit is not affected by non-dependants.
If you get the standard rate daily living component of PIP, you are severely mentally impaired and you have a doctor’s certificate to prove this, you do not count as an adult for Council Tax. This means that your partner or the person you live with could get 25% single person discount on their Council Tax bill even though you live with them.

Carer’s Allowance or Carer Support Payment (Scotland) may be available to someone who looks after you.
If you are getting the daily living component of PIP, your carer looks after you for 35 hours per week and your carer earns less than £204 per week, they may be able to claim Carer’s Allowance of £86.45 per week.
You can’t get the Severe Disability Premium included in your benefits if someone claims Carer’s Allowance for looking after you.
The Carer’s element of Universal Credit may be available to someone who looks after you.
If you are getting the daily living component of PIP and your carer looks after you for 35 hours per week, they may be able to claim the Carer’s element of up to £209.34 per month.
You can’t get the Severe Disability Premium included in your benefits if someone claims the Carer’s element for looking after you.
A Disabled Person's Railcard gives you one-third off the cost of most train journeys. If you get PIP, you can buy one by contacting National Rail:
