What are Universal Credit sanctions?
When you claim Universal Credit, you will be required to agree to something called a 'claimant commitment'. This commitment includes 'work-related requirements'. What these requirements are will depend on your circumstances.
If you don't complete these agreed requirements in your claimant commitment, and you don't have a good reason for not doing it, then you will be sanctioned.
This means that some of the money from your Universal Credit will be taken away for a set period.
