Turn2us Intermediary workshops

Register for one of our regional workshops or arrange for us to deliver a presentation or workshop in-house.

Turn2us runs a programme of workshops through which we teach front-line staff and volunteers how to use the Turn2us tools and services to support people in financial hardship. These are run both in-house and at a number of regional venues. To find out more about our workshop programme please see our frequently asked questions below.

We have been awarded funding to run programmes of work in the North East of England and North Coastal Wales. If you are part of a local charity or community group in either of these areas you might be able to: join a free workshop, arrange a free in-house one, put our tools on your website via a digital portal or arrange for us to make a presentation at your event. To discuss these opportunities further, please contact michelle.brookes@turn2us.org.uk.

Regional workshops

Who should attend?

Staff and volunteers offering front line advice, support or information to individuals in financial hardship. The workshops are designed for people who are not benefit experts but want to know where to find the latest information and updates on welfare benefits and grants.

What will I learn in the workshop?

  • How to use the Turn2us Intermediaries Benefits Calculator and Grants Search tool.
  • How to access other resources including Find an Adviser and information on benefits and charitable grants.
  • The features and benefits of a MyTurn2us account, which enables intermediaries to apply directly to grant-giving charities online and to save benefit calculations.
  • Where to find the latest information on benefit changes including the roll out of universal credit, localised council tax support and housing benefit

And there will also be lots of opportunities for questions, answers and sharing of ideas throughout!

Will I need to do any pre-course preparation?

You should look at the benefits calculator, grants search and the information and resources section of our website, and read through the information checklist which will be used with the benefits calculator.

Please note, you will be sent handouts to print out and bring with you on the day.

Is there a cost?

There is no charge for staff and volunteers from charities working with individuals in financial hardship to attend the workshops.

However, in order to make sure that we can continue to offer resources such as our intermediary Benefits Calculator and intermediary workshops, we make a small charge for commercial organisations, local authorities and some housing associations to access these services.

See our Charging Policy page for more information.

I have a question, who can I contact?

Michelle Brookes, Turn2us Workshops & Engagement Project Officer. Email: training@turn2us.org.uk.

How do I book?

Please use the links below to find a workshop near you or click on the relevant pin on the map.

There isn’t a regional workshop taking place near me…

Please contact the training coordinator to see if a workshop might take place near you in the future. If there isn’t, you might want to consider one of our in-house workshops for your team.

I need help registering or logging into my intermediary account

Can I arrange an in-house workshop?

Turn2us can also arrange in-house workshops to meet the training needs of your organisation on a date and at a venue to suit you. If you would like to discuss whether an in-house Turn2us workshop would be suitable, please contact: Michelle Brookes, at training@turn2us.org.uk or 020 8834 9217.
