How to become a Turn2us volunteer Visitor or London Befriender

Find out how you can play a key role in getting help to those most in need of our support

Volunteers provide face to face support

As one of our Visitors, you can play a role in getting help to those most in need of our support. They notice the things people forget to tell us in their grant applications for financial support from Turn2us – the cracked window pane, the faulty boiler, the broken fridge or the carpet with a hole in it.

The face-to face-support that our Visitors provide ensures that we can offer a lifeline to some of the most vulnerable people who are facing those unavoidable circumstances that life can sometimes present to anyone at any time, such as bereavement, redundancy or life limiting health diagnosis.

Although this role is not a befriending one, if you live in London, we do have the Turn2us Befriender role. This involves spending an hour twice a month with an individual we are supporting in their own home. It is a new service for people we are piloting for people who feel socially isolated and who may have added health issues or mobility problems. For some individuals, their health issues may involve their mental health, including depression or anxiety.

My visitor is absolutely excellent. More than anything it is a great comfort to have a familiar face and a listening ear

You can find out more about our Visitor role  and our London Befriender role.   If neither of these roles are suitable for you but you want to support our work, please email as we are currently developing new roles that may be of interest. If you are interested in supporting our fundraising activities, you can find out about the ways you can get involved
