How do I search on Find an adviser?

Enter your valid UK postcode (or that of the person you are seeking an adviser for) and select a 'Topic' and a 'Distance' from the drop-down menus on the Find an Adviser home page.

If you don't have a postcode, enter a postcode for the place where you want to find local advisers.

Then click 'Search' to see the results of your search. This will be a list of organisations giving their names and a brief summary of what each one does.

You will probably find that only some of the results apply to your situation.

When you find a service that you think might be able to help you, you can find out more about them by clicking on the name of the organisation or the link at the end of the summary

This will take you to the organisation's Find an Adviser profile.

My search didn't give me any results. What do I do?

You may find your search gives you no results or only information on services that don't meet your needs.

You can do this by choosing a different option from the 'Topic' or 'Distance' drop-down boxes.

If this still doesn't come up with anything, try searching with a postcode for a city near you. Postcodes for urban areas are likely to produce more results than those in rural areas.

If there is a Citizens Advice bureau near you (or similar general advice service), they may be able to advise you on your situation or give you details of local services to meet your needs.

I work for or volunteer for a not-for-profit advice organisation. How do I add my organisation to Find an Adviser?

If you are from a not-for-profit advice organisation and you would like it to be added to 'Find an Adviser', please contact AdviceUK at: advicefinder@adviceuk.org.uk.

Please do not use this email address if you are seeking advice and help.
