Arvinda brings a wealth of experience from her career leading social justice organisations, and decades of experience as a non-exec director for a range of voluntary sector and housing organisations. Her unique combination of skills, and lifelong commitment to advocacy and equity, will help guide us forward as we work towards a future where everyone has the financial security they need to thrive.

Currently, Arvinda is working as a consultant (helping charities navigate transitions), as well as providing governance, coaching and mentoring support – specialising in supporting women of colour. She’s also a co-convenor for the Better Way network, of which Turn2us is a member. The network focuses on building a fairer, more inclusive society in which everyone can enjoy a good life, and they place particular emphasis on working with local communities to influence national policy.

Arvinda will be joining us at a critical time, as we continue to pursue our vision in an increasingly volatile landscape. We are confident that, given Arvinda’s deep knowledge and experience of charity strategy and governance, Turn2us will continue to make a positive impact for those facing financial insecurity. We’re excited to work with her to respond to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

I’m so excited to get started at Turn2us. Not only is this an opportunity for me to share my insights and experience, it’s also a chance to learn more from an expert team who are contributing to a more equitable world. Having worked with Tom before, I know that we share the same drive to make change happen in a way that's truly informed by people with lived experience. Turn2us’s strategy reflects that drive. It’s clear, it’s ambitious, it’s rooted in co-production; it’s what a strategy should be. I’m excited to spend time with the team to see how it’s translating into impact.

Arvinda Gohil OBE, Turn2us’s newly elected chair of trustees

When we began our search for a new chair, we were looking for someone who, above all else, will ensure the people we’re here for are at the heart of every decision we make. I believe we’ve found that in Arvinda. Her decades of leadership in social justice organisations, combined with her experience in governance positions, means she is best-placed to hold us to account, guide our work and grow our impact.  And of course, Arvinda won’t be starting from scratch. Her work in this role will build upon the strong foundations laid for her by Carrie Stokes, who successfully steered Turn2us through the creation of our strategy. On behalf of everyone at Turn2us I want to thank Carrie for her invaluable contribution.

After three rewarding years as chair of Turn2us, I’m proud to hand the baton to Arvinda. During my tenure, I’ve seen the board - and the organisation as a whole - go from strength to strength, building momentum and consistently delivering impactful work with expertise and compassion. As we enter the final three years of the charity’s ambitious strategy, I know Arvinda will provide the continuity and vision needed to take this work forward.
