For many families, financial insecurity isn’t just about not having money - it’s about the barriers that prevent them from moving forward.

At Turn2us, we see this every day. Through the Turn2us Response Fund, we work with partner organisations to help people rebuild their lives after a life-changing event. We offer grants for essential items - things that may seem small but make a huge difference.

Take Richard’s* story. After fleeing domestic abuse with his three children, he found himself starting over with nothing. Without access to benefits, he was struggling to cover essential living costs. On top of that, he faced housing debt that prevented him from securing a safe home for his family.

Donate today to help more people like Richard get a grant for the essentials, or help others maximise their income and build a more secure future in which they can thrive.

Through our partnership with Cyfannol Women’s Aid in Wales, we helped Richard plant the first seeds of security by providing:

  • £500 emergency money for living costs while he waited for his benefits to be set up.
  • A £550 grant to clear housing debt, allowing him and his children to move into a safe home.
  • £2,950 to furnish his new home, making sure his children had a comfortable, stable place to grow.

With this support, Richard was able to regain control of his finances and rebuild his independence.

Clearing the housing debt wasn’t just about the money, it meant he was able to cut financial ties with his abusive partner. Having furniture isn’t just about the practicalities of having somewhere to sit, it’s about providing stability and comfort so he and his children can eat, rest and be in the right mental state for work or school.

Richard and his family now have a home. They have financial stability, and the breathing space for Richard to plan a future for himself and his children.

I can’t thank you enough for your support and everything you’ve done for me and my kids. We were classed as homeless, living in temporary accommodation, with nothing after leaving our family home due to abuse and controlling behaviour. Without your amazing services and the incredible support from Cyfannol Women’s Aid and the Family First Dad support worker, our lives wouldn’t be where they are today. My kids and I are now 100% happier and in a much better place. Thank you.

Donate now

This spring, you can help more people like Richard.

Your donation could give someone the essentials that plant the seeds of security and enable them to grow and thrive. A table and chair, laptop, a travel pass, a phone top-up—these aren’t just things, they’re stepping stones to a better future.

Donate today, or whatever you can afford and you can help lift people out of financial insecurity and into a life where they can thrive.

Our team and the partner organisations we work with see first-hand how these small but essential items help people rebuild their lives. From a young woman in a refuge who needed a laptop to continue her studies, to a man who needed the right protective clothing to start his new job, access to small grants doesn’t just provide temporary relief, it helps people plant the seeds of long-term security.

As the uncertainty in the world makes life more expensive for all of us, more and more people are finding themselves impacted by life changing events. You can be that beacon of hope that helps them rebuild their lives.

Our impact

Turn2us partners with over 30 organisations, offering grants to people in their time of need. In 2024 these grants totalled £3,805,000.

We can only continue to provide these grants with the support of people like you. These are more than just items—they’re the building blocks of a secure future:

  • £10 could top up a phone so people don’t feel isolated from family or friends. A phone top-up isn’t just credit — it’s the ability to apply for work and stay connected.
  • £60 could pay for a bus pass for a month so a parent can take their children to school.
  • £150 could pay for a second hand laptop so someone can apply for jobs. A laptop isn’t just a computer — it’s a gateway to education, job opportunities, and a fresh start.
  • £500 could cover a family’s essential living costs like food, toiletries, water, gas and electricity for a month while they wait for their benefits to be paid.
