Terminally Ill

If you are terminally ill, you may come under special rules for some benefits.

For benefits administered by the Department for Work and Pensions like Personal Independence Payment, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance and Universal Credit, you count as terminally ill if you have a disease that will get worse and your death can reasonably be expected within 12 months.

For benefits administered by Social Security Scotland like Adult Disability Payment or Pension Age Disability Payment, you count as terminally ill if it is the opinion of your doctor that your illness is terminal.
