Find out more about Child Tax Credit.

Can I get Child Tax Credit?

You can get Child Tax Credit if:
•    you are 16 or over, and
•    you are responsible for at least one child.

The child must be:
•    under 16; or
•    aged between 16 and 20 and in full-time, 'non-advanced' education at school or college, or starting an 'approved' training course.

See the Gov.uk website information on Child Tax Credits when your child reaches 16 (link opens in a new window)

If you have a child aged between 16 and 19 included in your claim, each year by 31 August you will need to inform HMRC if they remain in full time non advanced education (FTNAE). If you fail to do so the child will be removed from your claim and your award will be reduced or will stop if there is no longer any entitlement.
