What is Carer Additional Person Payment?
Carer Additional Person Payment is an extra payment for people who care for more than one person. It is paid on top of Carer Support Payment.
Can I get Carer Additional Person Payment?
You are eligible for a Carer Additional Person Payment if:
- You already get Carer Support Payment, and
- You care for another person for at least 20 hours a week.
The second person you care for must be getting a qualifying benefit.
How much Carer Additional Person Payment will I get?
The payment is £41.60 every four weeks. It’s paid into the same account as your Carer Support Payment.
You can use the Scottish Governments eligibility checker, to see if you might be eligible for the payment.
How do I apply for Carer Additional Person Payment?
If you already get Carer Support Payment, you don’t need to make a new claim. You should report a change of circumstances to Social Security Scotland. You can do this online, or by calling the helpline on 0800 182 2222.
If you do not get Carer Support Payment, you will need to make a new claim and include the both people you care for in your application.
