Tell your MP

Your Member of Parliament (MP) represents people who live in their local area, known as a constituency.

You can contact your MP if you have concerns about your experience with Personal Independence Payment (PIP), including poor service, delays, or concerns about how the rules work.

Contacting your MP is different from challenging a PIP decision. If you think your PIP decision is wrong, you may need to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration .

If you are unsure what to do, you can:

• read the Check a PIP decision page for information about understanding your decision.

When you might contact your MP

You may want to contact your MP if:

• claiming PIP has been a difficult or unfair experience
• the DWP is taking too long to deal with your complaint
• you think the law or PIP rules should be changed because they are unfair.

What your MP may be able to do

Your MP may be able to help you by:

• asking the DWP for an explanation
• helping you get an update or a decision made more quickly
• raising concerns about the PIP rules and possible changes to the law.

When you contact your MP, include:

• Any reference number you have from the DWP for your claim or your complaint
• Your full name, address and contact numbers
• What happened, when it happened and how it affected you
• What you want to happen to put things right
