A short celebration of this year’s fundraising triumphs.

People eating in Care Home

During 2019 Turn2us fundraisers supported us in a verity of ways, raising money so that we can help more people who are sliding into poverty.

We are grateful for all the support we get and thank every single fundraiser for the hard work and effort they have put into their fundraising from running 26 miles in the London Marathon to holding a Turn2us Tea Party at their place of work. Here are a couple of examples of what our fundraisers have been up to over the past year:

Time for tea at Elizabeth Finn Homes

This year two of our Elizabeth Finn Care Homes, Merlewood and Grove Court, put on two fantastic events with their take on the Classic British Afternoon Tea.

At Merlewood, residents and guests enjoyed a lovely Summer Fair, including a raffle, and afternoon tea party and at Grove Court a Cars and Coffee party. Guests enjoyed delicious home made cakes and sandwiches prepared by the care home chefs.  Songs from the Rat Pack where played at Merlewood and Grove Court had a show of classic cars; amongst them was 1927 Bentley – the winner of countless races.

Together these events have raised £2000.

Pedal4People

Pedal for people cyclists

In June, a group of cyclist took to the road in support of Turn2us’s fight against UK poverty.
The group which included our Chief Executive Thomas Lawson, cycled 28 miles from Barnes Common to the Elizabeth Finn Merlewood Care Home. The ride saw them cycle through the beautiful area of Richmond Park before heading into the glorious green belt county of Surrey.

Together with the riders they have raised over £3,000, this could help two families get back on their feet following a life changing event.

All money raised at these events will go towards helping those struggling to make ends meet.  We want to extend a big thank you to all supporters, staff and residents for making these events such a success. The support makes such a vital difference and will help people across the UK who are going through tough times.

We’d be delighted if you would like to hold your own event, like a tea party or take on a running challenge. Please contact the Fundraising Team on 020 8834 9271 to request your fundraising pack.
