Turn2us launches Ireland website

Share

Turn2us has launched a new website that will allow it to help more people across Ireland.

Turn2us operates in both the UK and Ireland and has created the new online service in order to provide greater access to support for those living in poverty in Ireland.

Turn2us gave out €73,000 in grants last year to people and families in financial need in Ireland, and this year hopes the new Turn2us.ie website will allow even more people to benefit from the support available. In addition to providing grants through the Elizabeth Finn Fund to individuals who fulfil the charity’s criteria, the new website also offers an innovative ‘Grants Search tool’ which allows people to search over 100 different grant-giving bodies.

Grants

Turn2us provides grants to people struggling financially who have worked in one of our 120 eligible professions including teaching and nursing. While the Grants Search tool includes support covering a range of circumstances. Charities listed on the Irish version of the interactive resource include the Sick Poor Society Cork that provides grants for families and individuals in need from Bishopstown through Cork City and as far as Mahon, and Protestant Aid, which provides grants to alleviate poverty or distress, annuities for the elderly and allowances for heating/energy costs.

Professionals working in Ireland

The website also provides an area where professionals who support people who may be struggling financially can apply directly to the Elizabeth Finn Fund on behalf of those people that they support, as well as a range of real life cases studies to help people understand what support is on offer.

Comment from Turn2us' Ireland Officer

Finbarr Fitzpatrick from Turn2us commented: “Turn2us has been supporting people in Ireland for over 119 years but until now we have never had a website featuring support specifically for Irish residents. Not only will Turn2us.ie allow us to provide assistance to even more people, by working with over 100 other grant giving funds we will be able to ensure that even more people can access support from across the sector.”

Comment from Turn2us's Chief Executive

Simon Hopkins, Chief Executive of Turn2us, commented, “The grant-giving sector in Ireland can provide vital support to those that are struggling. I am delighted that we are now able to bring together over 100 different grant giving funds, including our own, to help us fight poverty in Ireland together. The biggest tragedy is when people are simply not aware of the support available. I hope that this new website will help combat that.”
