What is the Warm Homes Network?

The Warm Homes Network, funded by Cadent and Northern Gas Networks, brings together expertise from its three partner organisations Turn2us, YES Energy Solutions, and Citizens Advice Manchester. Together, they help people in Liverpool, Blackpool, Sunderland, and Leeds to claim the support they're entitled to, manage their energy bills, make their homes more energy efficient, and access advice on benefits, debt, and budgeting.

The full range of support offered by each partner is:

  • Turn2us: Online Benefits Calculator and Grants Search, practical information and support, information on energy schemes available throughout the winter months.
  • Citizens Advice Manchester: Debt advice and management, budgeting and housing advice, income maximisation and benefits advice.
  • YES Energy Solutions: Low-cost energy efficiency measures, low-carbon technology, income maximisation, home insulation.

Who does the network support?

Currently, this service is available to people who live in the Cadent service areas of the Liverpool City Region and Blackpool, as well as the Northern Gas Networks areas of Sunderland and Leeds.

How can people access support?

People can access support by opening the chatbot on this webpage. You’ll be signposted to support from Turn2us, and will also have the opportunity to get a referral to Citizen’s Advice Manchester and YES Energy Solutions.

Please note that to make a referral to one of the other partners, we will need to collect some personal details. This data will not be shared with any third party other than the agreed organisation unless required to ensure your safety or the safety of others.

Why did Cadent create the network?

Cadent created the Warm Homes Network as a way of supporting customers facing fuel poverty and other difficult situations. In addition to its funding commitment, Cadent provides expert oversight of the network, and its front-line colleagues are trained to connect customers with the network’s support.

In April 2025, Northern Gas Networks joined the Warm Homes Network as a funder, bringing the same level of expert oversight. The partnership extends the network's reach and helps ensure consistent, high quality support across their service areas.

How is the network funded?

In 2021, Ofgem implemented a Vulnerability and Carbon Monoxide Allowance (VCMA) for Gas Distribution Networks like Cadent and Northern Gas Networks. Designed to support customers in vulnerable situations, this funding enables these networks to deliver even greater positive impact through initiatives like the Warm Homes Network.
