What is the Crisis and Resilience Fund?

The Crisis and Resilience Fund can provide financial support to people in England who are on a low income or facing a crisis, including help with essential costs and housing payments.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is a scheme run by local councils in England. It is to help low-income households who are experiencing a financial shock or cannot afford essential costs. 

It was introduced in April 2026 to replace the Household Support Fund, and will be rolled out across local authorities by July 2026.

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is delivered by local authorities in England. To find out the name of your local authority, visit the Find my local council page and enter your postcode. 

What support can I get? 

The help available can vary from one local council area to another because councils decide how to run their own schemes. However, support will generally include access to:

  • Crisis Payments
  • Housing Payments
