How do I apply to the Crisis and Resilience Fund?

The Crisis and Resilience Fund can provide financial support to people in England who are on a low income or facing a crisis, including help with essential costs and housing payments.

Last reviewed 14 April 2026

You can apply to the Crisis and Resilience Fund through your local authority’s website. To find the name and contact details of your local authority, visit the Find your local council page and enter your postcode.

Depending on your local authority, applications may be accepted online, face to face, over the phone, or by downloading and posting a completed form.

As the Crisis and Resilience Fund is new, some local authorities might not yet be accepting applications.

There is no deadline, applications can be made at any time throughout the year.

If you live in an area where local services are split across multiple local authorities, you should visit the website of the larger council. It should have information about the Crisis and Resilience Fund in their cost of living support area.

When will I find out?

Most local authorities aim to tell you the outcome of your Crisis Payment application as soon as possible, and urgent requests within 48 hours.
