Statutory Neonatal Care Pay is a weekly payment for parents of babies born on or after 6 April 2025, who receive neonatal care.

What is Statutory Neonatal Care Pay?
Neonatal Care Leave allows parents take up to 12 weeks off work to be with their baby who is in neonatal care. If you claim this leave, you may also be able to claim Statutory Neonatal Care Pay.
Statutory Neonatal Care Pay is a weekly payment for parents of babies born on or after 6 April 2025, who receive neonatal care.
Neonatal care means the medical care a newborn baby gets in the first 28 days after they’re born. This can include:

hospital care

ongoing medical care after the baby leaves hospital – as long as it’s arranged by the hospital where your baby was treated and led by a consultant

palliative or end of life care.
